The Williamson River is a blue-ribbon trout stream that can give exciting challenges and also hefty rewards. The average catch for Rainbow Trout can be between 3 and 6 pounds, with 10+ pound fish frequently testing your drag. We target these fish with all traditional fly fishing methods, but swinging streamers is our favorite technique. Remember, THE TUG IS THE DRUG!
The Wood River is a traditional spring creek that feeds Agency Lake. This beautiful meandering river hosts steep-cut banks that the elusive Brown Trout absolutely adore. Hopper or dry fly fishing can be extremely effective, but when these big fish migrate up from the lake, streamer fishing can be the most effective technique.
The Williamson River is the major tributary for Upper Klamath Lake, as the Wood River is for Agency Lake. The two lakes are connected by a short channel known as ‘the straights’. Both lakes have an impressive population of native Redband Trout that would appeal to any angler.
